Dinghy race training report

The dinghies had their first race training session on Sunday with a good turn out - from regular club racers to sailors just starting to get into dinghy racing. And it was sunny with a perfect light breeze !
Mark Riddington and Richard Sharp ran a short theory session covering starting plans and tips for light wind sailing, then Mark used his Aero to demo the perfect light wind sail settings . Armed with this knowledge we then did lots of starting practice and short races - the race officer training running at the same time providing the full start line experience. The group's starting definitely improved pretty dramatically over the session. And with plenty of on-the-water tips from Mark and Richard lurking in a patrol boat, and a post sail debrief I think everyone found it a really fun and useful session.
The plan is to have these session every month or two, with a different focus each time. Next one planned for the Friday 10th April at 1700 with a post sail debrief in the bar.
