H&H 6 race result - final decision

I'm sorry to report that following further extensive discussions with several RO's, members of the club, sailors on the day, the ESC Honorary Dinghy Secretary, the RYA and together with the observations made by our Results Fairies, our Rear Commodore Sailing and I have decided that the fairest result is that H&H 6 should be 'abandoned'.

It appears that it has become impossible to produce a fair set of results for the following reasons:

• The issue of who actually finished, when and where is the problem, as some boats didn't cross the intended finish line
• There are multiple boats that technically did not finish and have no time, yet they signed off as finished!

I have taken the paragraph below from the RYA Racing Rules Guidance Book (page 42), 2020, and hope that you will all agree that this is appropriate:

To Abandon the Race

This should normally be the last resort when it is not possible to construct an outcome for the race that is fair to all.
