Honours Board

In common with many other clubs, ESSC are putting together an 'honours board' listing club members who have won National, European or World championships or have been selected to go to the Olympics.

See attached picture to give an example of what our friends at ESC have done with their honours board. The current thinking is to put it in the function room (TBC).

We have routed through the archives to pull together this piece of club history over the past 30 years, which is as far back as we have found records. The criteria for inclusion is that they have to have been a club member at the time of winning the championship. As a rule, sub-categories within events are not included (Youth, Masters, Grand-Masters etc), but if it was large and prestigious enough to be held as a separate event or was an Olympic class, then these would be included (E.g. Junior Europeans in the Finns, Laser Masters). We are not including people who are current club members, but weren't at the time of winning their championship. Keelboats would be on a separate honours board if there is sufficient interest.

Before it goes to the engravers, it needs checking by club members who were around at the time, as some details may have been lost in history. For example, was Kevan Gibb (who won the 1998 Wayfarer Worlds with Ian Porter) a club member then? Who have we missed? Any misspellings? Any dates or typos that need correcting? Please email me andrewgould97@hotmail.com to tell me of corrections or anyone I may have missed out. Thankyou
