Dinghy Sailing mid-season update

Published 17:30 on 20 May 2024

With the season well underway, we've had some good turnouts for the series races with over 60 boats taking part in both the Marsh and Watmore series. However, it grieves me to report that we lost the Dinghy Yoke to ESC, despite a valiant rearguard action from Richard Sharp, John and Angie, Simon Boylin and Tim Weeden, we didn't have enough boats to qualify. There will be a disciplinary soon.

A plea from Emma for more volunteer race officers. Please, please if you are not down for a duty this year we need you to take at least one.

Also, Sandy Keefe is organising manning the patrol boats for Chi Hbr race week (19-23 August). We have the Maid and Slipper 2 fully crewed, but are short of volunteers for Slipper 1. This is the 60th year and promises to be an amazing event with over 400 dinghies on the water. Free lunch and race week shirt for volunteers. Slipper are hosting an amazing Beatles tribute band on the Tuesday. It is free, but you must drink loads to ensure we break even! 8pm Tues 20th Aug. Open to all club members, competitors and helpers.
