RYA Level 1 - 'Start Sailing' for Beginners. Course Organiser: Max Whitlock
It’s May and we’ve got the Oppies sailing on the Mill Pond, SOTTs in the harbour and it’s the time of year to get the adults sailing!
If you have little or no sailing experience but would like to learn in a dinghy the Emsworth Slipper Instructors are waiting to get you on the water.
The RYA Level 1 – ‘Start Sailing’ for Beginners will take place at the Club over 3 separate Saturdays coinciding with suitable tides and dinghy availability. It covers basic theory and for much of the time you will be on the water in the Club’s Bahia Dinghies.
At the end of the course you will have learnt to sail in all directions, have an awareness of launching and recovering the dinghy and able to sail in light winds under supervision. Upon completion of all three sessions you will receive a certificate recording your new skills.
The dates for the course are: Sat. 1st June; Sat. 22nd June and Sat. 6th July (times to be advised later). The cost is £38 which includes the RYA National Sailing Scheme Logbook and the ‘Start Sailing' – Beginners Handbook.
Open to all club members aged 16 and over and all you need to provide is your own buoyancy aid and suitable clothing. If you are a new Slipper member wanting to learn to sail please come and join in.
