NOTICE OF RACE

Slipper Centenary

Joint Club Class Racing Weekend

Saturday 30 & Sunday 31 July 2022

The plan is to have a weekend with three main classes and two slower classes having their own starts both days along with fast handicap and slow handicap races for all other entrants.

Fast fleets will be starting from the Committee boat at Sweare Deep. For the Fast Fleets there will be two races each day (four in total over the weekend) all races to count:

  • D-Zero
  • Aero and Lasers (Full rig)
  • 2000
  • Fast Handicap (Maximum PY 1150)

Slow fleets will be starting from the ESC Bridge (Sat) and ESC Race Hut (Sun). For the slow fleets there will be one race each day (two in total over the weekend) both races to count:

  • Feva
  • Terra
  • Slow Handicap (Optimist/Topper/ LASER 4.7 etc)

If there are 5 or more boats from another Class, e.g., RS400, RS200, Topper and they are signed up 24 hours before, then the RO might consider a separate start for these. Depending on numbers, the Aero and Laser fleets will be split by sail size for results. The RO in charge will make the final decision on which classes are having separate starts on the Friday evening so please sign up as early as possible. Details will be posted on the ESSC website and Emsworth Dinghy Sailors Facebook page.

There will be a prize giving with tea & cakes at Slipper Sailing Club on Sunday afternoon at 1630, all competitors are welcome. The bar will also be open until 1730 for those who fancy something a little stronger or cooler!

The event, including prizes, tea and cakes will be free as part of the Club Centenary celebrations, however donations will be gratefully accepted and will go to the Commodores Charity.

We want to get as many boats out as possible for each class; sailors that don't own one of the Class boats are encouraged to borrow a boat to be able to enter. There will also be a normal handicap start for all other boats. For example, we believe that between the clubs there are about fifteen to twenty 2000s and it would be good to see a large double handed fleet out.

Notes to all competitors, Friday 29 July:

  • 1) Starts are per NOR, with Laser Radials starting in the Laser Fleet
  • 2) 2000 will start with Fast Handicap unless there are 5 entries 30 minutes before race start
  • 3) Slow fleets will be starting altogether
  • 4) With 4 fleets and two or three races per day, it is going to be very busy on the Committee Boat, so please avoid questions to the team during start & finishes
  • 5) The courses will be as per Sailing Instructions for Three Race Series and displayed on the back of the Committee Boat. Please check as we may change course for your next race
  • 6) Please note your start time & pennant
  • 7) Any general recall will go to the back of the fleet. Please keep clear until your restart
  • 8) Please keep clear of the start line when other fleets are starting
  • 9) Please also keep clear of the finishing line, if the blue flag is showing we are still finishing boats
  • 10) When we are getting ready for the next start an orange flag will be displayed
  • 11) There maybe several fleets finishing at the same time, please remember the boat in front and behind just in case
  • 12) The race teams from both clubs hope that you enjoy this weekend of racing. Any feedback please do let us know
