Slipper Centenary Joint Club Class Racing Weekend 2022
Published 10:46 on 1 Aug 2022
A fantastic weekend's racing with separate starts for the different classes & handicaps, and six races over the two days, a total of 18 starts! We were lucky with the weather being warm and windy both days giving excellent conditions for the courses at Sweare Deep, and from both clubs' start lines. Thank you to the great number of sailors on the water with 63 taking part over the two days. See the gallery for more pictures.
A very big thank you goes to Mike Lillywhite as lead Race Officer, RO's Rob Lineham & Simon Langford (from ESC), and their ARO teams for organising & running all the races (quite a complex operation), and to our ESSC Results Fairies, Wendy & Carl, and Simon, who between them got 28 sets of results (including overall) sorted for all fleets across the two days in time for the prize giving on Sunday afternoon. An amazing job!
And, of course, also a very big thank you to all the eight patrol boat teams, who had a busy time laying marks and helping with capsizes.
Competitors and organisers were treated to a huge section of delicious cakes and tea back at the club house made & served by our volunteers, which raised over £100 for the Commadores Charity. A very big thank you to you all absolutely scrumptious!
It was great to see so many smiling faces at the prize giving with lots of winners receiving special engraved Centenary glasses for First, Second and Third places, which were kindly presented by our Club President, Mike Hackman, and Honorary Life Vice President, Sarah Thorsby. And a special prize to William for his impressive trapeze work with his dad in the Wayfarer.
Such a very happy atmosphere to end a great weekend.
