Cruisers Section

ESSC has a full and well supported programme of racing and inshore and offshore cruising.

Racing is organised for a single club fleet using a handicap system based on the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick scheme for all boats.  There are two series, the Phillips Cup Series of 11 races to different venues throughout the Solent and the less tastefully titled Back Passage Series of 6 events. 

There are also inter-club races with Emsworth Sailing Club.

All races are open to all comers but only Club members qualify for ESSC trophies. 

Those who do not want to race often cruise inshore to the venues to enjoy the friendly and enthusiastic discourse that characterises ESSC. Each year we have two cruises in company, events further afield to France or the West Country and for smaller boats there is also a very active programme of mid-week cruising.

Some close racing this year! First and second separated by only 6 points in the Series and 5 points in the Back Passage Series. In the broader picture individual race trophies are spread across more boats this year. Well done everyone.
